OPENING 1st April Since January, I have been working on the Grandmasters of Fine Art Online exhibition. It means, sending invites and receiving works. Posting them on pages, protecting them with Copyright etc etc... Today I have finished on all the work. My server was not helping as there were several glitches. The latest, one picture showing very well on the site on each page but when I checked online, it was a different picture that was properly stuck! I had to clear my cache, delete the photo on all the pages and reload a new one. A terrible palaver. But I found time to complete the SEO and so, watch it, we will be launching the exhibition on Saturday 1st April Second exhibition opening the 3rd of April is one very dear to my heart.
I have been a NAPA member since 2020 and have enjoyed numerous exhibitions around the country with its members. If you wonder what paintings in Acrylic look like and you are visiting Wells in Somerset, do not hesitate to visit the Museum and gallery where the paintings will be hanging. All of them by artists knowing how to handle the medium in all styles and subjects

I am very busy curating the Annual Online Exhibition by
Grandmasters of Fine Art… the exhibition will open on the 1st April. I am so lucky to be in touch with brilliant artists and receive their masterpieces. I am trying to find time to do a bit of painting, this to keep me happy 😀 http://www.grandmastersfineart.com Through the years I have had to adapt to many throw back! The very first one was while preparing for an exhibition in Canterbury, I had problems with my eyesight which resulted being operated. It stopped me finishing a few paintings on the go. However the exhibition was successful. The second throw back was I could no longer paint with my beloved Oil paint. I was allergic to the fumes. I turned to water mixable paint but after a few years, I had to give it up. Being a successful Acrylic artist, I was not too concerned, although I discovered that some mediums from different make of Acrylics was giving me problems. I had to adapt. My third throw back was more serious! As I was one month from opening a Watercolour exhibition, I had an infarctus. I was gone for a quarter of an hour. Thanks to the amazing team of the William Harvey in Ashford, I was operated and brought back to life. My children fixed my exhibition and I could enjoy the result of my hard work. My latest throw back is gout in one hand, arthritis in neck and shoulders that stopped me carrying with Canvas. So, not to be defeated, I am from now on, painting uniquely in Watercolour. After posting this latest news on FB, I have received a few messages from followers who were positively happy of this outcome as they love my watercolours. So, here we come.... Watercolour it is from now on! Thank you for your so kind comment.AE.K… I was a very lucky one. Merci
I cannot thank enough Marc and Mandy for presenting me with a glass pencil. I do not produce calligraphy and did wonder how I could use this gorgeous pencil. Eureka, I am using it in many ways. If you are an artist and do not possess one, I really recommend for you to experiment. Here is the presentation box, front and back. Very pretty and inviting! In the box Out of the box, this elegant pencil with Red Ink Notice the groves of the pencil. It is where the Ink deposits and slowly go down as you write. Impeccable constant same size My excitement is I have found I can lay watercolour in the groves. It can be different colours and so will not go down on the paper as a unique colour. I have laid a few lines to show how fine the pencil is.. But my biggest find is, it is excellent to use as Masking fluid pen. Very thin lines that you can control
No more fight with brushes or drawing pen and masking fluid bulging etc.. The very top exciting advantage is, I can wash the glass pen and use it again for anything! What about that? I am going to get another one just in case... Now for sale in my shop I have completed this little painting I started with watercolour.
I decided to redo it with gouache. I am very happy with the medium. This little landscape is a corner where I walk almost everyday … The bridle way in Seabrook, Hythe Kent in Autumn… I was educated in France where children had to come to school with their own tin of gouache. i did love their colours and the smell… I felt it was magic! I have never forgotten being 8 years old and the teacher asking us to paint an apple… luckily mine was red… the next lesson was Autumn leaves… I was in my element … the time flew by and I was gutted when I had to pack… so school children in France knew how to handle gouache. Watercolour or Aquarelle were either rare or reserved to real artists and so expensive … A few years ago I tried some gouache… they were called designer gouache… I did not like them. They were too heavy. The colours too garish. A few days ago I did some research and found these tubes of gouache for £28.00 on amazon Royal Talens… I love them… They are fresh and thin…
There are enough complimentary colours to create something good… Let see I think I will combine watercolour and gouache. I will lay the foundation of a painting in Watercolour and come back with the gouache. so, watch this space 😀 |
