Now for sale in my shop I have completed this little painting I started with watercolour.
I decided to redo it with gouache. I am very happy with the medium. This little landscape is a corner where I walk almost everyday … The bridle way in Seabrook, Hythe Kent in Autumn…

I was educated in France where children had to come to school with their own tin of gouache. i did love their colours and the smell… I felt it was magic! I have never forgotten being 8 years old and the teacher asking us to paint an apple… luckily mine was red… the next lesson was Autumn leaves… I was in my element … the time flew by and I was gutted when I had to pack… so school children in France knew how to handle gouache. Watercolour or Aquarelle were either rare or reserved to real artists and so expensive … A few years ago I tried some gouache… they were called designer gouache… I did not like them. They were too heavy. The colours too garish. A few days ago I did some research and found these tubes of gouache for £28.00 on amazon Royal Talens… I love them… They are fresh and thin…
There are enough complimentary colours to create something good… Let see I think I will combine watercolour and gouache. I will lay the foundation of a painting in Watercolour and come back with the gouache. so, watch this space 😀 |
